High Museum Glasgow School Exhibit Promotion

Project Brief A poster and brochures inspired by the Glasgow School design movement for an exhibition for the High Museum of Art. This project was inspired by the artist that led the Glasgow art movement and the work that they produced. Specifically, it highlights the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Margaret Macdonald, and Frances Macdonald.

Project Statement This project began with writing a paper and gathering sources and artwork for the designs. Once that was done, the challenge then became designing the posters and advertising; this was especially difficult as I was tasked with creating a piece that has quite a bit of body copy and also combines 3D object (chairs and architecture) with 2D work. Having to combine two separate types of artwork and the body copy is what influenced the asymmetrical design of the poster, despite the fact that the Glasgow style typically utilizes symmetrical layouts. The brochures were created as individual brochures for each artist to allow the artwork to stand out individually. Then the promotional items were based off what the High Museum currently sells in its gift shop to match current branding.
